Ock Pop Tok, a long valued partner of the Artisan Alliance, has a museum project and exhibition space called Fibre2Fabric which is a situated at their Living Crafts Centre in Luang Prabang, Laos. The project curates and presents different exhibitions every year, and it includes an extensive permanent exhibition of Lao Textiles. Fibre2Fabric’s exhibitions demonstrate the production and cultural significance of textiles from various regions and ethnicities in Laos.

The textile collection is currently housed in an old building that lacks structural integrity and does not provide an environment conducive to textile preservation. The method for digitally cataloging the collection is rustic and does not allow outside access to the database. The Artisan Alliance will partner with Ock Pop Tok to help with the renovation of the museum space, creating a sustainable, stable environment to house the textile collection as well as providing technical assistance to catalog the collection in a way that makes it accessible to a wider audience.

Because of the growing effects of COVID-19 around the globe, this project is on hold until tourism increases again in Laos.
